North Pole Breakfast + Free Printables

A fun tradition that I started with my son several years ago was a North Pole Breakfast! It takes place on December 1st and our little Elfie shows up at the same time.  We have powdered donuts and hot cocoa and there is usually a few candy treats and a small gift.  This year I placed everything on my favorite bar cart.  Lots of hot cocoa toppings!

In the past we've put together a gingerbread house but let's be honest...gingerbread houses are a pain.  The icing takes forever to dry!  This year instead Elfie brought a Lego Star Wars Advent calender and nobody missed the gingerbread house!

I created some fun printables to go with the breakfast and I'm including the download links for you to use.

Personaly Use Only.

DELICIOUS PECAN PIE BARS

I have a confession to make...I've never made a pecan pie.  I love pecan pie, it's my favorite right after apple.  This year I decided to give it a go but instead I wanted to make pecan pie bars.  I headed to pinterest to find the perfect recipe.

After a little searching I found this recipe from Rock Recipes.  It was really so easy and I only had to pick up dark corn syrup at the store, everything else I had on hand.  They were so good!  Honestly I can't rave enough on how good they were and easy!  Even my son loved them and he's not a nut fan.

A must for your next holiday get together!  You can find the recipe HERE.

JINGLE BELLS FREEBIE

My boys and I love Christmas so that means the decorations are up...there's no shame in my Christmas game!  Sorry not sorry Thanksgiving.  I'm feeling festive and put together this super simple little jingle bell gift.

You'll need

tags (available for download at the end of this post)
mason jar
twine
scissors
jingle bells (you can use bell chocolates, or anything bell related)

Fill up the jar with the bells and then cut the tags out.  I used a scalloped scissors for a fun touch on the bottom of the tag.  I also used eyelets for the hole punched area.  I like to layer my gift tags but you can just use one.

Attach to the jar with twine.  Easy!

Mummy Pretzels

Today is teacher conferences and I'm headed there armed with fun Halloween treats for my son's teacher.  These are so easy and your kids can help you!

You'll need:
White Candy Melts
Candy Eyes
Pretzel Rods

Wax Paper
Twine
Bags
Cute Tag

1.  Melt the candy melts according to the directions.
2.  Dip your rods in the melted candy (I used a spoon to help cover the pretzel).
3.  Place on wax paper and add candy eyes.
4.  Once you're done dipping the pretzels drizzle the remaining candy melts over the pretzel rods to make the mummy bandages.  I've seen this step done before adding the eyes, either way is cute!
5.  Once they harden place in a cellophane bag and tie it off with twine and a tag.  You can find the pretzel bags in the baking section at Michael's.

Halloween Tag Freebie + Halloween Gift Idea

Halloween is just a short time away, do you have your costume picked out?  Me either!  Oh well...check out this cute Halloween tag!

I used it to put together a little teacher gift.  My favorite lip balm of all time is Crazy Rumors.  I used the Candy Corn flavor and showed two ways to affix the tube, either by ribbon or a glue dot.  Just place in a little cellophane bag and you're done.  Super easy and I like easy!

The tag is for personal use only.  Grab the link at the bottom of the post.

harry potter party

Several months ago I read the Harry Potter series for the first time. I know I know...honestly I thought they would be too juvenile.  After reading them- WOW- I get it, I laughed and cried too many times to count.  Sounds a little cheesy but I LOVED them.  The movies were showing around the same time on tv so I would watch them with my son and he became a fan.  He's actually listened to a few of the books on cd as well and we are currently reading the first one together.

When it came to picking his birthday theme this year he decided on Harry Potter.  I was game!  His birthday was very low key since a week before we were at Aulani (I'll post more on that later).  I didn't have a lot of time to throw it together, so unlike me...usually I prepare months in advance.  Even with just a few days to prepare it turned out great and he loved it all.

Here we go...there are a lot of pictures!!

A lot of the items I designed myself but I did have a shopping trip to Michaels and the party store as well as utilizing some items I found on Pinterest and Etsy.  I will post links to those.

Of course there is a Harry Potter font and you can find that here.  I used it to design the birthday sign and gift wrap.

I designed gift wrap using well known HP spells as well as adding a 10 for the birthday boy.  I used the extra gift wrap as a back drop.

We are house Gryffindor all the way and I printed off the crest from this source.

I hit up Michaels and it was perfect timing because all of their Halloween items are out. I really had to restrain myself because they weren't on sale!  lol! I picked up a few potion bottles, spell books, spiders and black cobwebs.

As a side note the black cobwebs do not pull apart to create a stringy effect very well.

Our party stores are limited here in Alaska but I managed to find a Nagini...just a scaled down version.

How perfect are these potion bottles?!

I found these spell books at Michaels but you could certainly just make them yourself by covering books you all ready have.

Here is the gift wrap with the spells as well as deer "patronus" gift wrap.  FYI the deer gift wrap was left over from Christmas.

Aragog the spider also showed up!

Harry needs his robes, wand, glasses and Hogwarts notebook.  The glasses, robes, glasses and golden snitch came from Party Craft.  The Hogwarts book printable can be downloaded here.

Lots of treats!  The test tubes I had all ready so last minute I thought to put some candy eyes in them.  Love how those turned out! I incorporated some candy items from Honeydukes candy shop.  I created the wrappers for the candy.

Harry Potter cookies!  I kept it easy with a lightening bolt, glasses, HP, quidditch broomstick, Hedwig and the deathly hallows symbol.

I think the Honeydukes chocolate bar wrapper was my favorite!

Lastly these adorable book marks are a free download and can be found here.

And that's a wrap!

End of the Year + Teacher Gift

Here we are at the end of another school year!

We had BIG summer plans but those vanished when my husband and son were in an ATV accident last weekend.  My son didn't get hurt but my husband broke his leg and had to have surgery, he's sporting two shiny new screws in his ankle.  I'll be nurse, chaperon, caretaker and anything else you can think of for the next 6 weeks- if not longer.  It could have been worse so I am  thankful!

Next week is the last week of school, how did this happen?  My son will be starting 4th grade next school year.  He's done so well this year, I'm so proud of him.  New state, new school, new teacher and classmates.  It was quite the transition but we made it!

He had a wonderful teacher this year and of course we went all out and spoiled her.  End of the year gift this year is a tote bag full of summer fun items!

What teacher wouldn't love this?  I picked up everything at Target...of course.  Bring on summer!
