This is so fun and soooo easy!!  Let's make a confetti bunting.  They are so festive and you can put them anywhere!

You'll need:

Gold & Silver Cardstock Paper (I got mine at Joann Fabrics in the scrapbook aisle)
Circle Punches (any size)
Glue Dots

1.  Punch out the circles (the cardstock has a plain white side)

2. Place several glue dots on the back/white side of a circle. Then place the twine in the middle.

3.  Place another circle (same size) on top of glue dots.  The white sides should meet and the glittery sides are showing.

4.  Place the circles about 1 inch apart and make the bunting as long as you want! I alternated the circle size for a little contrast.

I decorated my beloved gold bar cart with the bunting.  I have a funny story about this bar cart that I'll save for another time!

The holidays are fast approaching.  I've all ready decorated for Christmas.  What?  I can't help- I love it!  I've also been thinking about small handmade gift ideas and will be featuring them here.

First up...  I ran across a mason jar pin cushion/sewing kit from Wait 'Till Your Father Gets Home, you can find the tutorial HERE.

How cute are these?  You just need a small square of fabric, a mason jar, a hot glue gun, and fiber fill.  Super cheap and very easy!  You can fill them with sewing goodies but I think they are pretty cute as is.

Next week is Halloween and gone are the days of homemade costumes.  This year my son is going as Stinger the Transformer...ugh...oh well, he's super excited and I guess that's all that matters.

His class is going to have a fun day full of activities so I am sending along some favors and of course a small gift for his teacher.

Weight is never a fun topic however weight loss is.  I've always struggled with my weight, I'm definitely an emotional/stress eater AND I really like sweets.  I don't think that will ever change.  I was very successful at losing weight 9 yeas ago working out at Curves and doing a modified South Beach diet.  The weight just totally fell off, no joke.  It was easy...and THEN I got married and had a kid and losing weight wasn't so easy.

Our move and adjustment to South Carolina was very stressful and I packed on the pounds.  I finally decided to get my rear in gear so I started walking/running, using the app MyFitnessPal and adding one more workout a day the Bikini Mommy Body Challenge.  At first I didn't see results.  I was working SO HARD!  SO HARD!!  BUT then something magical happened, I started gaining muscle and losing inches.  Imagine that?  Good old fashion exercise and diet really works.  The past year I've lost 26 pounds which isn't a lot but like I said I only really got serious 4-6 months ago.  I have lost quite a few inches.  I'm able to get into my capris that I wore before I got married - this was a huge deal for me.  I wish I could go back and track my inches lost but I didn't keep up with that all but I can feel it in my clothes for sure.

So let me talk about two things that really worked for me...

Bikini Body Mommy Challenge

I found BBMC via Facebook awhile back and thought I would give the 2.0 90 day challenge a whirl.  It's 20 minutes a day and you don't need much equipment which is nice.  The best thing?  It's FREE!  BBMC posts youtube videos of the workouts and I do my workout along with her.  Did I mention it's FREE?  No gym memberships, you can do it anytime of the day from the comfort of your own home.  I'm not going to lie some days are super hard!!

The 2.0/90 challenge is starting back up on monday and I will be doing the workouts again.

There is also a meal plan that you can follow, diet is extremely important in weight loss as we all know.  It's a little more involved then I would like so I didn't do that but instead I use the app MyFitnessPal.

There are all kinds of ways to lose weight.  Some people don't like counting calories but you do what works for you!  For me at this point I love this app.  You input all your goals, weight, etc. and it will give you a daily calorie count that you should aim for.  You track your meals, snacks, exercise and water intake.  There are also ways to sync it up to different apps like FitBit and MapMywalk.  Another great reason to use it?  It's FREE!

Now you might think it's going to be a hassle to use but you don't have to try and figure out what the calories are in the foods you are eating.  It has a scanner where you can just scan the bar codes on the food items, it remembers previous meals and it has a HUGE database of foods that you can just look up your food item.  It does take a little bit of work but weight loss is work and a healthier you is worth the work.  I still indulge in my sweets and I like a good glass of wine but I'm seeing major progress.

I know this is a long post...I guess what I'm saying is - LET'S DO THIS!  WHO'S WITH ME??

This is seriously so delicious.  I made it and gave half of it away because once I tasted it I knew I was in trouble.  SO GOOD!  It's also a great alternative to banana bread.

First Day of Second Grade

Today my son started second grade.  I'm so proud of him and how well he's done after a rocky start in Kindergarten.  I hope that he finds new friends (all of his old friends are in other classes) and loves his teacher.

I found this prayer on  facebook this morning.

Check out this cute tutorial from Jessica of Two Shades of Pink...such a clever way to use leftover cupcake liners..

I've been seeing Jamberry nails everywhere these days as well a ton of consultants.  I joined an online party through a facebook friend and received a sample in the mail.  I've used the Sally Hansen nail strips and have been very pleased with the results.  I've been curious to try the Jamberry, they have a ton of patterns and styles.  Of course I picked the chevron (duh!).  I think they turned out pretty cute.  I just polished my other current favorite color combo pink-gold and black.  What do you think?

It's been a while since I posted...what can I say it's been a BUSY summer!!!

I was looking around online tonight and found a rude surprise.  I found a blog that was designed pretty much like mine including my former background and header design so there will be a few changes around here.  Currently it's a little bland.

I'll be back to posting in a couple of weeks when my son goes back to school!

bunny brownies

I am reposting this fun Easter idea.  The old link no longer works but LoraLee Lewis has some fun printables HERE.

I've seen the Bunny Brownies (or Easter Smores) idea sweeping across web on some of my favorite blogs.  The ones I've seen have included packaging the ingredients in mason jars.  Well I didn't have the proper size jars but I knew I wanted to make these for my son's teachers.  So...I put my own spin on them and created a "kit".

You can find one "how to" here at RecipeLink.  I went off of the directions from No Fuss Fabulous found here.

Ingredients and Directions:

1. Reduce 1 sleeve graham crackers to crumbs.

2. Layer 2/3 of the crumbs in a 1 qt jar.

3. Place 8 marshmallow bunny peeps standing up, facing out around the inside of the jar.

4. Press them up against the glass, but don't squash them.

5. Carefully spoon remaining crumbs in the center of the jar to support the bunnies, pressing down to keep it snug.

6. On top of this pour 1-1/4 cup Easter M&M's.

7. Spoon 1/3 cup brown sugar into center of M&M's, gently pressing with a spoon.

Attach A gift tag to say...

EASTER BUNNY S'MORES (or Bunny Brownies)

1. Empty the jar contents into a bowl. Snip the bunnies into bits with kitchen sheers or cut up with a knife. Return the bunny bits to the mixture. Mix well.

2. Melt 1/2 cup butter; add 1 teaspoon vanilla. Pour this over the dry ingredients, mixing well. Pat into a greased 9" square pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 15 minutes. Cool and cut into bars.

(Makes 9 to 12 bars.)

*Option - leave bunnies whole; combine remaining ingredients and place the bunnies on top; then bake as directed.

Since I didn't have the right size mason jars on hand...I packaged each of the ingredients in bags and topped them with a sticker ... I'd probably sticker/label everything if I could (it's probably my OCD--but shhhh don't tell anyone!)

And...the directions printed out on cardstock.  The cute bunny brownie image is from No Fuss Fabulous.

(You'll notice I forgot to change the word "jar" to "bags" on the how to instructions...I didn't realize it until I looked at this image.  Oh well, hopefully his teachers won't think I've lost my mind)

Packaged everything in these cute take out boxes.

And topped with a note to his teachers.

I'm not a fan of giving edible gifts unless I know what they taste like.  I mean who wants to give some cookies or something and it tastes awful??  How embarrassing!  I was skeptical about these.  I can't stand the taste of peeps but maybe this recipe would change my mind?!?

Well I have to say they were super easy AND pretty tasty!!  What a shocker!  :)  A fun little treat for Easter!  As a side note ... for some reason it was really fun snipping up the peep bunnies too.
