Last week we got back from a 6 day trip to Disneyland and Legoland California. I haven't been to Disneyland since I was in fourth grade and my son has never been so this was quite a treat for all of us!! We booked through AAA and I wasn't totally pleased with them when it was all said and done. I think if I had to do it over again I would have booked through Costco like we did with our cruise to Alaska. Some of the information we received from them ended up not being correct- nothing major...oh well it was a fabulous trip regardless!!
I took all the pictures with my iPhone, I didn't want to lug my big camera around or risk it getting stolen. I'm so glad I did...it was in the 80's the whole time and it was much easier with the phone.
We spent one day at Legoland and bought a 4 day hopper pass to Disneyland and California Adventures. We went at a time that we thought it wouldn't be very crowded, boy were we wrong. I'm sure it wasn't as crowded as summer time but it still seemed awfully crowded to me since school isn't even out. Maybe everyone had the same idea we did.
Legoland was super cool, my son loved it...we did too! You can definitely see it all in one day without being rushed. My only complaint was you can't use your Lego VIP membership card at Legoland only the website and lego stores...I thought that was very strange and sneaky!
My son totally surprised us by going on a lot of the "thrill" rides, ones that I had to sweat and pray my way through as I watched him ride with my husband. I tried to avoid anything too wild for fear of setting off my vertigo.
Disneyland and California Adventures were so much fun! Once again my son loved the thrill rides especially Star Tours. There was some he was not enamored with at all such as Mr. Toad's Wild Ride and Pinocchio. Even though those rides were "harmless" the creepy music and darkness got to him. I threw caution to the wind and went on way more rides then I thought I would - I did make one mistake...Space Mountain. I didn't remember the ride from when I was smaller and my hubby only warned me right before I got on...uh yah. I spent that whole ride with my eyes closed and praying I wouldn't toss my cookies. That was the only ride I actually got queasy from. I'll never let my hubby live that one down!
D-Man totally loved the Jedi Training!! If you get a chance to go you should let your kiddos experience it. They get to battle Darth Vader and the Phantom Menace. The "Jedi Trainers" were great with the kids and moved the kids around like a well oiled machine. As a former teacher I love seeing an organized group of kids! lol
We saw quite a few shows too... Aladdin, Disney Junior, The World of Color...the parade, the Muppet's and Bugs Life. They were all a lot of fun. I know I keep saying fun...but it really was. It took me back to when I was younger and seeing it all again through my son's eyes was really special.
We had such a blast, I miss it all ready!
