albertsons mini haul

Albertsons was having a great summer deal where if you bought 10 items from a list (which were all items we used) you could get $5.00 off.  So I grabbed my coupon notebook and set off for the store with my manufacturer coupons and double coupons.

I bought...
2 Gatorades
3 Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ Saunce
1 Mustard
1 Mayo
1 Ranch
2 Packs of Hot Dogs

I lost one of my coupons or my savings would have been a lot better!  So mad about that- oh well.  I'm just beginning so I'm bound to screw up every now and again.  I still got it all for $8.13 which was a 76% savings.  Next time my goal is 80-90% savings.

My local newspaper also has a great deal where I can get 3 extra sunday papers so we're going to purchase that deal tomorrow.  So that's 4 sunday papers (we all ready received the paper fri-sun) with the coupon inserts- Red Plum and Smart Source...plus in store coupons.  Woot woot!

superhero trays

I've been working on D-Man's superhero party little bits at a time. Today we had the chance to stop by Goodwill to pick up some frames. I cleaned them up and spray painted them primary colors (the colors of the party). I washed the glass and then just added in solid papers...presto chango...cute party trays. I'm actually going to replace the paper with cute fabric but I'm keeping that on the d/l until his party.

I saw this idea on a party blog but I can't remember where...I follow so many.  Super easy and in my opinion super cute!

Easily adaptable for any occasion...especially weddings!

Have a great weekend!

smores sans campfire

I went to the store today and my eye caught these ginormous marshmallows.  They were too cute to pass up, so I grabbed a bag and some Hershey bars of course.

I decided to experiment and came up with these cute smores treats.  I just googled smores pops and it has "been done" before so I'm not claiming the idea as original.  They are super cute and I wanted to share how they looked.  I'm trying to be good with my no chocolate...but I had to try at least one!...very tasty, just like a smore!  Definitely use the hersheys bar (not almond bark or that candy coating stuff) it tastes more like a smores.

Melt- dip - roll in crushed graham cracker...doesn't get any easier...

and here ya go...

size comparison...(normal versus ginormous)

a sweet trio...

and because everything is cuter as a pop...

Happy Friday!

a good haul

Today I purchased:
  • 6 bottles of juice (tree top/ocean spray)
  • 2 containers of strawberries
  • 6 boxes of Special K bars
  • 10 jars of peanut butter (small)
  • 10 cans of Hunts pasta sauce
  • 1 carton of Egglands eggs
The total came to $66.13 but with my coupons and Rewards rebate the total was $15.59...that's my best yet!

We're working on building our stockpile up...currently it's more like a pantry not so much a stockpile...hahaha...we'll get there though!

Bad photo- took it with my phone but it's our current stockpile aka pantry.  :)

Read this. LET IT REALLY SINK IN...... THEN CHOOSE

John is the kind of guy you love to hate.   He is always in a good mood and always has something positive to say.  When someone would ask him how he was doing, he would reply, 'If I were any better, I would be twins!'

He was a natural motivator.

If an employee was having a bad day, John was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation.

Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up and asked him, 'I don't get it!'
'You can't be a positive person all of the time.  How do you do  it?' He replied, 'Each morning I wake up and say to myself, you have two choices today.  You can choose to be in a good mood or...you can choose
to be in a bad mood
I choose to be in a good mood.'

Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or...I can choose to learn from it.  I choose to learn from it.

Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to accept their complaining or...I can point out the positive side of life.  I choose the positive side of life.

'Yeah, right, it's not that easy,' I protested.

'Yes, it is,' he said.  'Life is all about choices.  When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice.  You choose how you react to situations.  You choose how people affect your mood.
You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood.  The bottom line:  It's your choice how you live your life.'

I reflected on what he said.  Soon hereafter, I left the Tower Industry to start my own business.  We lost touch, but I often thought about him when I made a choice about life instead of reacting to it.
Several years later, I heard that he was involved in a serious accident, falling some 60 feet from a communications tower.
After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, he was released from the hospital with rods placed in his back.
I saw him about six months after the accident.
When I asked him how he was, he replied, 'If I were any better, I'd be twins...Wanna see my scars?'
I declined to see his wounds, but I did ask him what had gone through his mind as the accident took place.

'The first thing that went through my mind was the well-being of my soon-to-be born daughter,' he replied.  'Then, as I lay on the ground, I remembered that I had two choices:  I could choose to live or...I could choose to die.  I chose to live.'
'Weren't you scared?  Did you lose consciousness?'  I asked.
He continued, '...the paramedics were great.
They kept telling me I was going to be fine.  But when they wheeled me into the ER and I saw the expressions on the faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really scared.  In their eyes, I read 'he's a dead man'.  I knew I needed to take action.'

'What did you do?' I asked.
'Well, there was a big burly nurse shouting questions at me,' said John.  'She asked if I was allergic to anything 'Yes, I replied.'  The doctors and nurses stopped working as they waited for my reply.  I took a deep breath and yelled, 'Gravity''

Over their laughter, I told them, 'I am choosing to live.  Operate on me as if I am alive, not dead.'
He lived, thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude...I learned from him that every day we have the choice to live fully. Attitude, after all, is everything.

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself..  Each day has enough trouble of its own.'  Matthew 6:34.

After all today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.

art show

Tonight is my son's preschool art show.  Each child will share their professionally framed artwork and receive an art certificate.

His preschool teachers asked me to come up with a certificate design.  I enlisted one of my bestie's design help and she came up with a fabulous design.  I had the certificates printed off at the UPS store...by the way they came out awesome and the quality is great.  Check them out...(the teachers said they were the best yet- yah!) (I removed the preschool name- just in case you're wondering what the gap is.)

There is also a cookie reception after the show so I whipped these up...I thought they turned out pretty cute...
